Rehabilitation

Orthopaedic rehabilitation (Cyriax, Sohier)

The Cyriax method is a manual therapy for the selective treatment of tendon, ligament and muscle lesions.

The Sohier method (invented by a Belgian physiotherapist) offers mobilisation techniques using manual joint release. It is a gentle, progressive and analytical method. This technique is designed principally for the hips, shoulders and spine.

Hand rehabilitation

This rehabilitation technique is intended primarily to prevent, slow and in certain cases improve deformities resulting either from illness or from hand trauma or surgery. Treatment is indicated for various types of pathologies, including :

  • Traumatic lesions (fractures, sprains, tendon rupture)
  • Amputation, reimplantation
  • Dupuytren’s contracture
  • Algoneurodystrophy
  • Neurological hand, rheumatoid hand
  • Tenolyses, arthrolyses
  • Recovery of sensation
  • Keloid scars
  • Arthralgia
  • ...

Vestibular rehabilitation

This rehabilitation treats various types of vestibular, balance and vertigo disorders. Using specialist equipment, the physiotherapist’s aim is to accelerate the onset of vestibular compensation and to achieve substitution by stimulating proprioceptive and visual afferences.

Vestibular rehabilitation must be prescribed by the patient’s general practitioner (code ZK58).

Uro-gynaecological rehabilitation

Uro-gynaecological rehabilitation is designed to strengthen the muscles of the perineum. It consists of two distinct phases - one, known as bio feed back, in which the patient works actively and another involving passive rehabilitation phase using electro-stimulation.

Treatment is indicated for various types of pathology such as :

  • Urinary urgency incontinence
  • Bladder instability
  • Mixed incontinence
  • Post-partum
  • Prolapse of pelvic organ (bladder, uterus, rectum)

Uro-gynaeclogical rehabilitation must be prescribed by the patient’s general practitioner (code ZK81).

Pelvic rehabilitation (male)

Male pelvic rehabilitation is designed to strengthen the muscles of the perineum. It consists of two distinct phases - one, known as bio feed back, in which the patient works actively and another involving passive rehabilitation phase using electro-stimulation.

Treatment is indicated for various types of pathology such as:

  • Male urinary incontinence following prostatectomy, urethro-pelvic surgery or lower digestive surgery
  • Faecal incontinence, constipation.

Treatments in rehabilitation tanks

This type of rehabilitation is carried out in a special tank filled with spa water heated to 34°C. The beneficial effects of the partial weight relief given by the water combined with the antalgic and relaxing effects of the heat and the specific healing effects of the spa water mean that therapy can start early in the rehabilitation process.
