Objectives :
- Normalise spinal mobility
- Increase the strength and endurance of the spine stabilising muscles
- Eliminate pain.
- Increase the patient’s functional capacity
- Teach the principles of ergonomics
- Facilitate everyday tasks
Duration
The treatment comprises 24 sessions with 2 sessions per week each lasting 90 minutes.
Prescription
DBC® rehabilitation treatment must be prescribed by the patient’s GENERAL PRACTITIONER. The prescription must specify :
DBC® Back + diagnosis (see scheme of pathology)
24 sessions+ diagnostic (voir schéma de pathologie)
code T 200
Scheme of pathology
- Inflammatory symptoms
- Post-traumatic syndrome
- Post-operative rehabilitation
- Nerve root compression without acute neurological signs
- Narrowing of the spinal canal
- Lumbar and pelvic pain
- Spondylolithsesis
- Non-specific pain
Maintenance session
At the request of your general practitioner, the programme may be followed at a reduced level of frequency in order to maintain the benefits of previous treatment.
Frequency : 2 sessions / month
code : T 202
Assessment
The patient’s condition at the start of treatment and his/her progress during therapy are assessed. This evaluation is carried out three times: at the start, in the middle and at the end of the DBC® Back rehabilitation programme. Each time, a detailed report is sent to the general practitioner who is thus able to follow patient progress.
This protocol comprises three elements:
- Questionnaires: give an overview of the patient’s condition and evaluate the intensity of pain
- Function evaluation: a clinical examination assessing muscular, neurological and functional condition
- Spinal profiling: measures spinal mobility and muscle endurance by cutaneous EMG
Treatment
A personal treatment plan is drawn up based on the patient’s pathology and the results obtained from the evaluation.
Each session lasts 90 minutes and comprises :
- Dynamic exercises on DBC® back equipment: flexion/extension, left/right lateral bends, left/right rotations, leg press.
- Relaxation and stretching: Following the use of each DBC® back machine, exercises to relax the group of muscles which has just been strengthened.
- Functional exercises: the patient is taught a programme of exercises so that the training can be continued at home
- Ergonomic advice: Essential for learning the correct posture for carrying out everyday tasks
Indications
- Zygapophysial symptoms.
- Disc degeneration
- Disc prolapse without acute neurological signs
- Spondylolisthesis
- Post-traumatic syndrome
- Post-operative rehabilitation (3 to 4 months following surgery)
Contra-indications
- Compression of nerve roots or spinal cord with clear neurological signs
- Severe cardio-vascular involvement
- Fresh fracture
- Osteoporosis
- Severe instability
- Lack of patient motivation
