Osteopathy
The science of osteopathy was founded in the 19th century by the American Dr. Andrew Taylor Still on the basis of his personal experience and work as a physician.
Osteopathy is at once a science, an art and a philosophy of health care which aims to utilise the body’s self-healing mechanisms in maximising mobility and treating the neuro-musculo-skeletal system. It requires an expert knowledge of anatomy, physiology, neurology and pathology.
The treatment itself is based on the concept of the unity of the body and the inter-relationship between structure and function in its diagnostic and therapeutic approach. Patient examination involves a knowledge of the techniques of differential diagnosis which enables the osteopath to direct the patients towards other treatments as required.
At the Domaine Thermal osteopathy has been one of our core treatments for two years now, helping us to provide a full range of medical and complementary therapies, and is becoming increasingly popular. It may be used in combination with other treatments.
