Obesity Day

At MONDORF, an interdisciplinary team provides advice and support to obesity patients to improve their health and quality of life through learning to adopt daily healthy habits.

March 4, 2024

On this World Obesity Day (4 March 2024), we invite you to focus on the post-obesity reinforcement cure. This post-cure follow up is not just a stage, it is a commitment to well-being for the long term.

Thus, following the obesity cure (initial stationary programme for 3 weeks or outpatient programme for 3 months), obese patients benefit from a complementary programme to embed their new (behavioural and dietary) habits permanently and to keep up their motivation over the long term. This reinforcement follow-up enables patient to deepen and consolidate the skills acquired according to the needs and becoming autonomous in managing their health approach.

Priority objectives of a reinforcement cure
  • Strengthen the skills acquired during your cure
  • Adapt these treatment strategies to your day-to-day life and reality
  • Embed these new habits in the long term
  • Be supported if events that are more difficult to manage should occur
  • Learn to manage and prevent relapses
  • Keep up motivation over the long term

The reinforcement cure is scheduled after a stationary or outpatient obesity cure.
This post-obesity cure follow up is covered at a rate of 80% by the National Health Fund.

Reinforcement Cure Programme

The reinforcement cure consists of 14 monthly sessions spread over 18 months maximum.

A session can be divided into 1 or two parts:

  • Active time with a physical activity session or a relaxation session
  • Educational time with participation in a theme conference led by dieticians, psychologists, a doctor or participation in a cooking workshop to experiment with new ideas for recipes adapted to the needs of the patient.

At the end of the 18-month reinforcement programme, your progress will be assessed by the therapists of the interdisciplinary team composed of a dietician, psychologist, and sports therapist plus a bioimpedance measurement.
